Catherine joined the European Medicines Agency in 2020 as a senior pharmacoepidemiologist in the Data Analytics & Methods Task Force. In the 15 years prior to joining the Agency, she held various positions in the pharmaceutical industry, generating RWE across all phases of medicines development, with a focus on post-authorisation evaluation of vaccines. She also previously worked as an epidemiologist at the Centre for Public Health Research and the Malaghan Institute for Medical Research in Wellington, New Zealand, and as a scientist at the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France. Her work at EMA currently focuses on all aspects of RWE, while supporting the evaluation of COVID-19 vaccines and applying lessons learnt to public health crisis preparedness. Catherine is co-chair of the ENCePP (European Network of Centres for Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacovigilance) Steering Group and editor of the ENCePP Guide on Methodological Standards in Pharmacoepidemiology, and represents EMA at the ICH M14 Expert Working Group (“General principles on planning, design, and analysis of pharmacoepidemiological studies that utilize RWD for safety assessment of medicines”).
